We've included the right reference, newspapers and audio content to complement the robust collection of magazines and journals.  With more than 25 years of backfile coverage from 1980 to present. General OneFile puts approximately 65 million database records at your users’ fingertips with a single search query.    With access to periodical and news articles, and indexing from a variety of general and specialized journals, this is an unrivalled source of mainstream and specialist content. Winner of the Charleston Advisor’s Most Improved Product Award for 2005, our user interface ensures easy searching for the novice user, while allowing precise results for the more experienced researcher.   There is a lot of unique content in General OneFile which cannot be found in other products including full-text of the New York Times from 1985, Financial Times from 1996, London Times from 1985 and Fodor travel guides. The title  list includes many in-demand general interest, professional, academic and trade journals including The Economist, Computer Weekly, Good Housekeeping, Journal of British Studies, New Scientist, The Bookseller, The Grocer and The Spectator.   The unprecedented depth of coverage is further enhanced by the cross-database search capability of our PowerSearch platform.  PowerSearch is a platform unlike any other, providing libraries with a sophisticated, yet simple, solution for managing a wealth of periodical and reference content.

                                              

A new more visually appealing interface for PowerSearch gives users a web-like experience and includes added features that will appeal to and empower library users, students and researchers.   New features developed following end-user feedback include:
  • A new Homepage that allows users to browse key content, customisable by the library or the user.
  • Users can create their own accounts and manage marked items, alerts, preferences.
  • Results lists that bring multimedia to the forefront.
  • Enhanced Publication browsing, with cover images for periodicals and eBooks.
  • An enhanced Subject Guide, with the ability to filter subject terms by numerous facets.
  • On-demand translation of documents for 11 languages with Polish, Arabic and Russian newly added.
  • Articles can be translated into 8 different languages with 3 further languages, including Polish and Arabic, being added soon.
