Thomas Stearns Eliot was a major poet, essayist, publisher, playwright, literary and social critic. Whilst he attracted widespread attention for poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, he is also known for his seven plays. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948.
